Vol. 458 No. 8

Written Answers. - Water Scheme.

Robert Molloy

Question:

112 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the trustees of the mid-Galway group water scheme, phase 4, have indicated that recent changes by Galway County Council in the specification for roadside restoration will add 75 per cent to the cost of the proposed group water scheme, thereby making the scheme non-viable; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17840/95]

Galway County Council has advised that the permanent road restoration works should be carried out by the group's contractor. My Department has requested the group to take account of this in the tendering arrangements and their response is awaited. On receipt of tenders, the questions of over-all cost and grant levels can be reviewed.
