Vol. 459 No. 3

Written Answers. - Carraroe (Galway) Community Residence.

Robert Molloy

Question:

97 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Health if he will approve an application from the Western Health Board for funds to provide a staffed group home in the Carraroe area, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18245/95]

, Limerick East): The Western Health Board is responsible for the delivery of mental health services in its functional area. The board, in March 1995, submitted details of its plan for the development of West Galway Mental Health Service to my Department. The plan, with which my Department has agreed in principle, envisages the achievement of a fully comprehensive service for west Galway on the basis of phased resourcing over a three year period. Funding for year one of the plan, 1995, has already been allocated to the board by my Department. The plan includes the proposed provision of a community residence in Carraroe, County Galway in year three, i.e. 1977, funding for which will be considered in the context of the resources available to me in 1997 and the competing demands for those resources.
