Vol. 459 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tallaght Hospital Bed Complement.

Liz O'Donnell

Question:

102 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Health his views on whether the proposed bed complement in the new Tallaght Hospital will be sufficient to meet all demands; the number of private beds to be included; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18250/95]

, Limerick East): The Government's decision to proceed with the construction of the new Tallaght Hospital in 1993 was based on an agreed bed complement of 513 beds. I am satisfied that the new hospital will be fully capable of serving the needs of its catchment area. The number of private beds to be included in the hospital development has not yet been finalised. I understand that the Tallaght Hospital board will be making a submission to me on the matter in the near future.
