Vol. 459 No. 3

Written Answers. - Irish Medicines Board.

Liz O'Donnell

Question:

105 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Health the start-up date for the new Irish Medicines Board; its start-up budget; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18253/95]

, Limerick East): It is my intention that the Irish Medicines Board will be appointed to take up office as and from 1 January 1996.

With regard to a start-up budget for the board, it is intended that the board should, as far as possible, be self-financing, its primary source of income being licensing fees. However, such transitional funding as may prove to be necessary will be made available to the board.
