I would not dream of advising 18 year olds or 19 year olds to leave the family nest — I have enough difficulty keeping charge of my own 17 year old and 18 year old at home without advising anybody else. The Deputy is aware that the Department of Social Welfare and not the Department of the Environment is responsible for rent supplementation. The Department of the Environment, however, has a presence on the review group and has a very real interest in this issue. We raised this issue at that committee because of our concern about its implications for housing policy and family structure. At the end of the day, young people may determine for very good and practical reasons to leave home. The Deputy, while making his point on social housing, did not say that young people staying at home can qualify for a payment of £25 a week. This is not the impression he gave. I am not the Minister for Social Welfare and I do not have responsibility for rent supplementation. Quite clearly we have an important input into the work of the committee. That committee is now coming to completion and will report to the Minister for Social Welfare. There is a commitment also in the Government programme which will follow from this committee report and it is logical to proceed with this policy in relation to the work that has already been done by the Department of Social Welfare.
