Vol. 459 No. 7

Written Answers. - Foul Weather Clothing.

Michael Ahern

Question:

176 Mr. M. Ahern asked the Minister for Defence if his attention has been drawn to the fact that ships' crews of the Naval Service have to share foul weather clothing, suit protective number 17, in spite of the fact that the Director of the Medical Corps has condemned this practice on the grounds of hygiene: and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18873/95]

It is the practice in the Naval Service to hold protective suits on a pooled basis for issue to naval personnel as required. I am satisfied that this practice does not compromise hygiene standards.
