Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy O'Dea — the need to tackle the growing problem of homelessness: (2) Deputy Seán Ryan — the need for Ireland to be granted an exemption from the EU draft Directive on the electricity industry in view of the implications for consumers in Ireland: (3) Deputy Eric Byrne — the need to abolish ground rents as a lien on residential property; (4) Deputy Michael Kitt — when sanction will be given for an extension of the Ballymacward/Caltra-Castleblakeney group water scheme, County Galway to Newtown-Tycooley; (5) Deputy Michael Smith — the EU fish quota negotiations and the effects they will have on the Irish fishing industry, particularly in the north west; (6) Deputy Ó Cuív — the need to extend the carer's allowance to include care being provided by family members who live in adjacent houses on the same farm holding; (7) Deputies McGrath and Penrose — the decision of the management board for tourism development to reduce the maximum level of grant aid from European Regional Development Fund funding from 75 per cent to 50 per cent for projects developed by the public sector; the impact of this decision on local authorities; and the steps which can be taken to reverse the decision; (8) Deputy Mary Wallace — the threatened closure and relocation of the Síol Resource Centre in Mullingar, County Westmeath; (9) Deputy O'Donnell — the need to extend the proposed tramway development from Dundrum to the Sandyford-Stillorgan Industrial Estate; (10) Deputy Séamus Brennan — the implementation of transport policy in Dublin over the Christmas season; (11) Deputy Broughan — the need to provide adequate funding for the northside of Dublin under local economic development programmes; (12) Deputy Michael Ahern — the current position in relation to building of the new school in Mallow, County Cork in view of the unsuitable accommodation available at present at Davis College.

The matters raised by Deputies O'Dea, Michael Ahern, O'Donnell and Michael Smith have been selected for discussion.
