Business of Dail: Motion.

I move:

That notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders the Dáil shall sit at 12 noon on Tuesday, 19th December, 1995, to take Statements on the European Summit Meeting followed by Statements on the Book of Estimates 1996 at 1 p.m. and the following arrangements shall apply in relation to the sitting on that day:

(1) The Dáil shall adjourn not later than 4.30 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday, 23rd January, 1996;

(2) The Statements on the European Summit Meeting, which shall conclude within 1 hour, shall be confined to the Taoiseach, the main spokespersons for the Fianna Fáil Party and the Progressive Democrats Party and the Tánaiste and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, who shall be called upon in that order, and shall not exceed fifteen minutes in each case;

(3) The Statements on the Book of Estimates 1996, if not previously concluded, shall be brought to a conclusion at 4.30 p.m. and the following arrangements shall apply

(i) the Statements of the Minister for Finance and of the main spokespersons for the Fianna Fáil Party and the Progressive Democrats Party shall not exceed 20 minutes in each case;

(ii) the Statement of each other Member shall not exceed 15 minutes;

(iii) Members may share time; and

(iv) a Minister or Minister of State shall be called upon not later than 4.15 p.m. to make a Statement in reply;

(4) Oral and written questions shall not be taken;

(5) Matters may not be raised under the provisions of Standing Orders 20 (3) or 30; and

(6) Private Members' Business shall not be taken."
