Vol. 460 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - EU Grant Aid.

Desmond J. O'Malley

Question:

19 Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade if he will give details of each capital project approval under the EU Structural Funds, Operational Programme for Tourism 1994 to 1999; the amount to be allocated from the fund; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1471/96]

To date over £78 million in EU aid has been approved under the Operational Programme for Tourism 1994-1999 by the respective product development management boards in Bord Fáilte and SFADCo. I have announced details of the boards' decisions in relation to EU grant aid for most of the 249 projects in a number of press releases, copies of which I should be happy to supply to the Deputy should he so wish. Grant payments to the developers are subject to compliance with the terms of reference contained in the letter of offer for each project, and these and other project details are matters confidential to the individual developers, the management boards and the two implementing agencies.

In all, approximately £155 million in EU grant aid for capital projects remains to be allocated over the remaining four years of the programme.
