Vol. 461 No. 4

Written Answers. - National School Grants.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

162 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education if she will have arrangements made to have payment of two grants issued in respect of a national school (details supplied) in County Cork. [3201/96]

My Department's professional advisers have indicated that certification for works carried out at the school concerned will be furnished within the next few days. When this is received, payment due in respect of the first grant listed by the Deputy will be forwarded to the school authorities immediately.

A furniture grant in the amount of £510.99 is being paid to the school. The Department's records indicate that approval was given to the school in January and July, 1995 to invite tenders for new furniture. The school was advised to accept the lowest tender and furnish the relevant documentation to the Department, following which 85 per cent grant-aid would be allowed. No communication has been received to date. If the furniture was acquired, the supporting documentation should be furnished to the Department in order that payment may be generated. The school authorities were apprised of this on 8 February 1996.
