Vol. 461 No. 4

Written Answers. - EU Milk Quotas.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

60 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, he has to make available the report of the Revenue Commissioners on the irregularities they have discovered during their audit on EU EEC milk quotas; the method of payments to farmers; the names of dairy purchasers and farmers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2872/96]

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that they have no function in relation to the audit of EU milk quotas. As part of their ongoing auditing of tax returns, audits have been conducted into a small number of farmers who have received payments for milk which they did not record on their tax returns. For reasons of confidentiality the Revenue Commissioners are precluded from disclosing any information in relation to their audits.
