Vol. 461 No. 4

Written Answers. - Cork IVF Unit.

Máirín Quill

Question:

73 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Health the specific plans, if any, he has for the setting up of an IVF unit at Cork University, County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2902/96]

Limerick East): I do not have any plans for the establishment of the unit referred to by the Deputy. However, I understand that Cork University Hospital, in association with the University Medical School, is formulating plans for the setting up of an IVF unit. Any proposal which may be submitted to my Department in regard to this matter will have to be considered in the context of many competing requests for resources and the regulatory framework within which any such units should desirably operate.
