Question:

131 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the current number of personnel working in his ministerial offices and the office of his Minister(s) of State; the number of personnel seconded or employed on a non-established contract basis; the competition process for filling such positions; the advertisements, if any, made regarding these appointments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There are 17 staff working in my office at present. Three of these are employed in temporary unestablished positions on a contract basis, with one of the three being on secondment-loan from within the public service. None of the posts was advertised or filled through competition.

There are nine staff working in the Office of the Minister of State with responsibility for Commerce, Science and Technology at present. Three of these are employed in temporary unestablished positions on a contract basis, with two of the three being on secondment-loan from within the public service. None of the posts was advertised or filled through competition. There are eight staff working in the Office of the Minister of State with responsibility for Labour Affairs. In addition, two civilian drivers are employed. In total, five are employed in temporary unestablished positions on a contract basis and a further two are civil servants on loan to my Department. None of the posts was advertised or filled through competition.
