Vol. 461 No. 6

Written Answers. - Renvyle (Galway) Pier.

Peadar Clohessy

Question:

167 Mr. Clohessy asked the Minister for the Marine whether he has received a request from Galway County Council for the current position on the survey his Department is carrying out to establish the necessary design and costing requirements for the required improvements at Derryinver Pier, Renvyle, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3470/96]

In response to representations from the Derryinver Quay Development Group, the Department investigated the possibility of modifying the proposed £60,000 development scheme at Derryinver to allow for the provision of a deepwater all tide landing platform. The Department's assessment is that the cost of such a modified scheme would be excessive. The Department is proceeding accordingly with the original improvement scheme and Galway County Council have been informed of this decision.
