120 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Education if she will confirm the sanction for the 13th assistant teacher at St. Pius X girls' national school, Fortfield Park, Terenure, Dublin 6; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3504/96]
The staffing of a national school is determined by its enrolment figure at 30 September of the previous school year. The enrolment for this school on 30 September 1994 was 387 pupils, which warranted a staffing of principal teacher plus 12 assistant teachers for the 1995-96 school year. Accordingly, there is no basis for the sanction of a 13th assistant for the current school year.
The enrolment figure for the school at 30 September, 1995 was 390 pupils, but since the staffing schedule for the 1996-97 school year has not yet been determined it is not possible at this stage to indicate what staffing levels will apply next year.
