Vol. 461 No. 7

Written Answers. - Transfer of Pensionable Service.

Paul Bradford

Question:

81 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Education the plans, if any, she has to recognise the teaching services of Irish teachers in Britain and other European countries for pension and increment purposes; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3784/96]

There is no provision for the transfer of pensionable service from abroad.

In the case of primary and second-level teachers incremental credit may be allowed for approved teaching service abroad up to a maximum of seven years, subject to a maximum of four years in respect of service given prior to 1 June 1979.

Claims for changes in the arrangements for the recognition of teaching service abroad for the purposes of incremental credit or pension are matters appropriate to the Teachers' Conciliation Council.
