Vol. 461 No. 8

Written Answers. - Dublin (Ringsend) Sewage Treatment Plant.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

97 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment if the proposed sewage treatment plant for Ringsend, Dublin will have UV treatment of viruses similar to that in use in the new plant in Tralee, County Kerry. [3998/96]

My Department has recently approved the preparation of detailed proposals by Dublin Corporation for the provision of waste water treatment facilities at Ringsend on the basis of a design and build contract. The detailed means for achieving the strict EU and national environmental standards required will be a matter for consideration in due course having regard to the proposals which are received.
