Vol. 461 No. 8

Written Answers. - Nursing Home Closure.

Noel Ahern

Question:

83 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Health if he will examine the situation of Saint Clare's Nursing Home, Delvin Bridge. Gormanstown, County Meath which is closing; the assistance, if any, he will give to a person (details supplied) in Dublin who is seeking a place in a health board nursing home; and the health board responsible. [4050/96]

(Limerick East): I presume the Deputy is referring to St. Anthony's Home, Delvin Bridge, Gormanstown, County Meath. This facility was owned by the Franciscan Sisters and never came within the terms of the Health (Nursing Homes) Act, 1990, and consequently never registered by the North Eastern Health Board. The Franciscan Sisters recently sold the facility.

In relation to the specific case raised by the Deputy, I am having this case investigated and I will write separately to him with the findings.
