Vol. 462 No. 1

Prosecution of Offences and Punishment of Crimes Bill, 1996: First Stage.

I move:

That leave be granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to amend and extend the law relating to the prosecution of offences, to amend the law in relation to the granting of bail to persons charged with offences, to amend the law relating to procedure in criminal trials, to amend the law relating to the granting of temporary release, remission of punishment, and pardons, and to amend the law in relation to the management and regulation of prisons and places of custody and to provide for related matters.

Is this Bill opposed?

Question put and agreed to.

Since this is a Private Members' Bill Second Stage must, under Standing Orders, be taken in Private Members' Time.

I move: "That the Bill be taken in Private Members' Time."

Question put and agreed to.
