Vol. 462 No. 1

Written Answers. - Teachers' Degree Allowance.

Máirín Quill

Question:

88 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Education the reason a person (details supplied) in Cork with an honours degree has not been awarded an honours primary degree allowance in any of the teaching years 1991 to date; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4119/96]

The basis on which qualification allowances are awarded is a matter which is currently under discussion with representatives of the interested parties. I am unable to comment further on the case referred to by the Deputy pending the outcome of these discussions.
