Vol. 462 No. 2

Written Answers. - Ashbourne (Meath) Community School.

Mary Wallace

Question:

143 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding the proposed extension to Ashbourne community school, County Meath in order to alleviate the serious overcrowding which is being experienced and the huge disappointment being faced by parents especially of Rathfeigh primary school who have been advised that there are no places at the Ashbourne community school for their students; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4192/96]

The building unit of my Department recently issued a schedule of accommodation to the authorities of Ashbourne community school for their acceptance and/or observations. The school authorities have raised a number of queries in relation to the schedule and the matter is the subject of ongoing discussions at present between the school and the building unit.

My Department will ensure that there is no delay in dealing with this matter. A decision to proceed further with the project will be given when the issue of the schedules of accommodation have been resolved.
