Vol. 462 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tallaght (Dublin) Plant.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

112 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the contact, if any, he has had with unions and management at Packard Electric in relation to the 400 workers who are, according to the 1995 rescue plan, due to be rehired in March 1996; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4639/96]

As I indicated in my reply of 6 February last on this matter the unions and management attended conciliation conferences at the Labour Relations Commission in order to overcome existing industrial relations problems. The parties are now engaged in ongoing local internal discussions which will, I hope, prove beneficial to the secure future of the Tallaght plant. As I also indicated in my earlier reply, the services of the dispute settling agencies remain available to the parties.
