Vol. 462 No. 4

Written Answers. - Turkish Market Access.

Ben Briscoe

Question:

23 Mr. Briscoe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when Turkey will be open to Irish beef exports. [4678/96]

The position is that the Turkish market is open to Irish beef, bone-in and deboned. However, discussions are continuing with the Turkish authorities regarding an acceptable health certificate for the export of live cattle. Good progress is being made in these discussions and I am hopeful that a certificate acceptable to all parties will be agreed shortly.
