Vol. 462 No. 4

Written Answers. - Youthreach Programme Applicant.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

83 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Education if a person (details supplied) in Dublin 13 who has not been in full-time education for over three years will be accepted by Youthreach in the September 1996 school year. [4772/96]

The Youthreach programme is designed to provide integrated general education, vocational training and work experience for unqualified early school leavers in the 15-18 year age group. As the child in this case is only 12 years of age, the Youthreach programme is not suitable to meet his needs. My Department is, however, endeavouring to find a suitable placement for him.
