Vol. 462 No. 5

Written Answers. - Contract Advisers Appointment.

Brian Cowen

Question:

235 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will have arrangements made for the continued appointments of contract advisers (details supplied) in view of the fact that two extra advisers (details supplied) have been appointed to another county since the embargo came into place in view of the serious problems involved. [5117/96]

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a question on the Adjournment on 22 February 1996 regarding the temporary contract advisers in question. Teagasc have now responded to my Department and the issue is being examined as a matter of urgency.

The other two advisers mentioned by the Deputy will fill existing permanent posts where vacancies have arisen. The filling of these permanent posts does not require specific Government approval under the terms of the Government decision of June 1995 on recruitment in the public service.
