Vol. 462 No. 5

Written Answers. - Funeral Grant.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

255 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Defence if he will make a funeral grant available in respect of a deceased person (details supplied) from County Cork who was a widow and in receipt of an IRA Pension. [5118/96]

Funeral grants are payable only in respect of deceased veterans of the War of Independence. The deceased person referred to was not a veteran but was in receipt of an allowance as the widow of a deceased veteran. Consequently, a funeral grant is not payable.
