Vol. 462 No. 5

Written Answers. - Drumanagh (Dublin) Archaeological Site.

Seán Ryan

Question:

116 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the immediate steps, if any, that are being taken to secure the Drumanagh Archaeological Site, Loughshinny, County Dublin, against damage and theft of artefacts from organised groups using metal detectors and other equipment. [4803/96]

The site referred to by the Deputy is subject to a preservation order made under the National Monuments Acts. The effect of this order is to render unlawful any interference with the site or the use of detection devices. Arrangements have been made for regular inspection of the site.
