Question:

64 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Health the assistance, if any, available from his Department, the agencies under the aegis of his Department or the relevant health board for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin, whose sole income is a disabled person's maintenance allowance in view of the fact that he has to move to a warmer climate on medical grounds. [5248/96]

Limerick-East): I propose to take Questions Nos. 59 and 64 together. The provision of assistance in any individual case is a matter for the health board concerned. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer, Eastern Health Board with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.

My Department does not have details of allowances similar to disabled person's maintenance allowance payable in the countries referred to by the Deputy. The embassies of the particular countries may be in a position to provide this information. The entitlement of a person to such an allowance would depend on (i) whether there was a similar payment available in the country and (ii) the person fulfilling the normal conditions governing eligibility for such payment(s) in that country.
