Vol. 462 No. 7

Written Answers. - Limerick Mediation Services.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

74 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform when the mediation services in Limerick will be opened in view of the fact that the premises have been acquired since September 1995, and the mediators have not taken up occupation. [5352/96]

The Family Mediation Service centre in Limerick is being serviced on a part-time basis at the moment, pending the recruitment of appropriate staff. A claim by the mediators, who are employed on a contract basis by the Family Mediation Service, for improvements in pay and other conditions of employment is at present the subject of discussions being held under the auspices of the Labour Relations Commission. This has contributed to the delay in opening the Limerick centre on a full-time basis.
