Written Answers. - Departmental Priorities.

Ivor Callely

Question:

106 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the legislative and administrative priorities of his Department in 1996; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5282/96]

Legislation planned for 1996 will be a Statutory Instrument under the European Communities Act, 1972 and the Control of Exports Act, 1983 to implement Council Regulation (EC) No. 3381/94 and Council Decision No. 94/942/CFSP regarding the control of exports of dual-use goods.

My administrative priorities for the year include the following: further development within the Department of the strategic management initiative process; the preparation and carrying through of Ireland's Presidency of the EU in the trade and tourism areas; and the continued implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Operational Programme for Tourism 1994-99 and of the Market Development Sub-Programme of the Operational Programme for Industry, 1994-99.
