Vol. 462 No. 8

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

173 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Education if she will review the case of a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath with regard to school transport. [5536/96]

The case to which the Deputy refers has been examined in detail by my Department.

Every effort has been made to accommodate the pupil in question. However, it would not be possible to extend the existing service to accommodate the pupil, as the road is unsuitable for the contractor's vehicle.

Accordingly, my Department has sanctioned the payment of a medical grant towards the cost of private transport arrangements.
