Question:209 Mr. Nolan asked the Minister for Justice the Garda strength in Garda stations in County Carlow for each of the last five years. [5667/96]

The Garda authorities are responsible for the detailed deployment of Garda personnel and resources to different areas. I understand from them that County Carlow forms part of Carlow-Kildare division which consists of 32 Garda stations. The Garda authorities are concerned, and I share that concern, about supplying the detailed information sought by the Deputy on the grounds of security and in the interests of crime prevention generally.
Accordingly, I propose to provide the strength by rank in the whole Carlow-Kildare Division only as at 31 December each year for the years 1991 to 1995 which is as follows:
