Vol. 462 No. 8

Written Answers. - Ballinagarry (Kerry) Pier.

John O'Donoghue

Question:

269 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for the Marine whether he will make funds available to repair the pier at Ballinagarry, Milltown, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5678/96]

The repair and maintenance of Ballinagarry pier is the responsibility of Kerry County Council. It is a matter for each local authority to decide, within the funding available to it, the priority to be accorded to the maintenance of local-harbour infrastructure. Subject to funding constraints, grants may be made from the Marine Vote towards the development of secondary harbours in the fisheries interest. The total funding available at present is extremely limited however.
