Vol. 462 No. 8

Written Answers. - Sick Leave Arrangements.

Tony Gregory

Question:

65 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Finance the special arrangements, if any, for civil servants out of work on sick leave due to having contracted hepatitis C from Anti D; if he intends that they should remain on full income and in the specific case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7, if the five months sick leave in 1995 under the occupational injuries scheme shall not militate against her sick leave on full income arising from hepatitis C in 1996. [5430/96]

No special sick leave arrangements have been put in place for civil servants who have contracted hepatitis C. Such civil servants may claim compensation for loss of salary from the tribunal which was established by the Minister for Health for the purpose of compensating affected persons quickly, without the necessity for legal proceedings. The case of the person in Dublin 7 has now been resolved.
