Vol. 463 No. 2

Written Answers. - Western Ireland Hospital Admissions.

Robert Molloy

Question:

44 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Health if fewer patients will be admitted to hospitals in the west of Ireland in 1996, to allow the Western Health Board to function within its allocation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5909/96]

Limerick East): The Western Health Board has drawn up a budget and service plan for 1996 which indicates an anticipated reduction in inpatient activity in the board's hospitals compared to that which obtained in 1995.

The plan is being examined in my Department and the detailed implications of the board's proposals will be the subject of discussions which will shortly take place between representatives of the Western Health Board and the officials of my Department.
