Vol. 463 No. 3

Written Answers. - Heart Operation.

Michael Ring

Question:

126 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called for a heart operation. [6360/96]

Limerick East): The patient concerned was placed on the Mater Hospital's cardiac surgery waiting list on 8 March 1996. The hospital is unable to give an exact admission date at present.

The Deputy will appreciate that the scheduling of admissions to hospital is a matter for the consultant concerned and each case is assessed to determine medical priority. Should the patient be concerned that his condition has deteriorated, he should return to his general practitioner who is in the best position to emphasise the urgency of his case directly to the consultant.
