105 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Environment if he intends to make contact with a company (details supplied) regarding the withdrawal of a radial tyre which has been found to be defective in the United Kingdom. [6247/96]
The case referred to in the question relates to a tyre produced in the UK in 1981 and used on a vehicle involved in an accident in the UK in 1988. While it is very unlikely that similar tyres would now be in use on a significant scale in this country, if at all, my Department is in contact with the tyre company about the matter. I will advise the Deputy of the outcome as soon as possible.
