Vol. 463 No. 4

Written Answers. - St. Patrick's Day Parade Funding.

Tony Gregory

Question:

141 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the funding allocated for Dublin's St. Patrick's Day Parade, 1996; and the items on which this funding was spent. [6734/96]

A total of £220,000 was made available through my Department's vote for 1995 and 1996 as seed capital to generate a new, more modern format for the St. Patrick's Day parade. This funding, together with income generated from other sources, including commercial sponsors, was utilised to subvent the cost of running the St. Patrick's Day parade and festival. These moneys were expended on such items as marketing, hiring street theatre companies, materials, as well as the general operational costs of staging the parade.
