Vol. 464 No. 2

Written Answers. - Cork Regional Technical College Course.

Paul Bradford

Question:

95 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Education if she will sanction a degree course in structural engineering at Cork Regional Technical College in view of the fact that a proposal to this effect has apparently been accepted by the National Council for Education Awards; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7853/96]

The programmes and budgets for the regional technical college Cork for the 1996-97 and 1997-98 academic years, which I recently received, include a request for sanction for a Bachelor of Engineering (Structural Engineering) among the college's new course proposals.

The proposals from the regional technical college, Cork, will be considered together with proposals from the other regional technical colleges and the Dublin Institute of Technology having regard to priorities, available resources and the policy on degree provision in the sector.
