Vol. 464 No. 3

Written Answers. - Land Registry Industrial Action.

Noel Treacy

Question:

108 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Justice the action, if any, she proposes to take to immediately resolve industrial difficulties in the Land Registry; if her attention has been drawn to the grievances of the staff therein; the proposals, if any, she has made to resolve this issue; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8091/96]

The industrial action being taken by certain staff of the Land Registry which, the Deputy will be aware, is part of a wider dispute affecting those grades throughout the Civil Service. Discussions have taken place with the staff panel, on which all Civil Service unions are represented, with a view to resolving the issues involved. These discussions are ongoing.

The Deputy may also be aware of the statement issued by the Minister for Finance and the Civil and Public Service Union recently in which it was agreed that negotiations with the union under the Programme for Competitiveness and Work pay agreement would take place with the assistance of a facilitator from the Labour Relations Commission.
