Vol. 464 No. 4

Written Answers. - Mayo Rape Crisis Centre.

Tom Moffatt

Question:

70 Dr. Moffatt asked the Minister for Health if he will provide urgent funding to Mayo Rape Crisis Centre (details supplied). [8257/96]

, Limerick East): The Western Health Board has provided £20,000 in 1996 to the Mayo Rape Crisis Centre towards the provision of its services.

I understand that the Mayo Rape Crisis Centre has recently made an application to the Western Health Board for funding totalling £48,835 for 1996. The board is in discussion with representatives of the centre regarding this application.

The board has not yet received all the information it requires to consider this application for funding. I hope that the Mayo Rape Crisis Centre and the Western Health Board will reach an agreement on the appropriate level of funding for the centre.
