78 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for the Environment the proposals, if any, he has for the widening and upgrading of the regional road from Killybegs to Glencolmcille, County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8317/96]
Donegal County Council applied for funding in 1995 for the realignment and widening of the R263 Killybegs to Glencolmcille under the EU co-financed scheme of specific improvement projects which promote employment and economic activity. While the council received grants of £976,000 for six schemes, the scheme in question was not one of those selected for funding. No application for funding under the scheme was received in respect of 1996.
It is open to the council to consider whether to re-apply for funding for the project under the EU co-financed scheme which will continue in operation until 1999.
