Vol. 464 No. 6

Written Answers. - Recruitment Advertisements.

Seán Haughey

Question:

105 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, he has to introduce measures that will outlaw the specification of age limits in recruitment advertisements and the targeting of voluntary redundancy schemes at the older worker; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8742/96]

I hope to publish shortly an employment equality Bill that will prohibit discrimination in employment on a wide range of grounds. The Bill will prohibit discrimination on age grounds in employment subject to certain conditions and will cover recruitment advertisements. The Bill also proposes to cover conditions of employment generally including redundancy measures other than pension arrangements based on actuarial principles.
