Vol. 464 No. 7
108 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of unprocessed REP scheme applications by county on 24 April 1996; and the plans, if any, he has to have these applications processed. [8856/96]
110 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of processed REP scheme applications that were unpaid as at 24 April 1996. [8858/96]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 108 and 110 together.
The number of applications for the REP scheme which were processed and awaiting payment as at 24 April 1996 was 227.
The number of unprocessed applications by county as at 24 April is set out on the following list. This total is accounted for by, among other things, the high level of interest in the scheme. The increased level of monitoring and controls introduced recently may also lead to some delays in the processing of applications.
I am keeping the resources for the REP scheme under close review with a view to ensuring that applications are processed for payment without undue delay.
Number of unprocessed REP scheme applications by County as at 24 April 1996.

109 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the plans, if any, he has to provide additional staff to the farm development services office in Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim to process REP scheme applications in view of the fact that no applications have been processed at this office for six weeks due to insufficient staffing levels. [8857/96]
I am not aware of any undue delay in the processing of applications under the rural environment protection scheme, REPS, at my Department's farm development services office in Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim.
I am satisfied with the staffing arrangements in place at present in Carrick-on-Shannon and do not have plans to provide any additional staff for this office.
111 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when the first payment under the REP scheme was made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [8870/96]
The person concerned received his first payment under the REP scheme on 18 April 1996.
