Vol. 464 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Roscommon Mooring Facilities.

John Connor

Question:

76 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht when he will grant a right-of-way through Office of Public Works lands applied for by a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that there has been a long delay in having this matter dealt with; and if he will have arrangements made to have the matter dealt with without further delay. [8873/96]

I welcome the proposal from the person in question to develop mooring facilities, serving the Shannon Navigation, on his own property in County Roscommon and I am prepared in principle to grant him access over State owned land to facilitate the development.

The proposed access route originally submitted by the developer was found to be unsuitable following expert assessment of the ground conditions. The details of the assessment were made available to and accepted by the developer's engineer. An alternative route, proposed by the developer, is currently being assessed. I am happy to assure the Deputy that the matter will be dealt with as expeditiously as possible.
