Question:

100 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for the Environment the date of the next local authority elections. [6349/96]

Under the Local Government Act, 1994 elections of members of every local authority are required to be held in 1998. That Act also provides that polling day at the elections, which must be in the month of June, shall be fixed by order of the Minister for the Environment.
