Vol. 465 No. 3

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 30.

I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 30 from Deputy Keogh. I call on the Deputy to state the matter of which she has given notice.

I seek your permission to adjourn the Dáil under Standing Order 30 so that the House can discuss a matter of urgent public importance regarding the discovery of completed practical work for eight leaving certificate students near a railway level crossing in Ballymurray, County Roscommon, and the resultant doubt this has raised about the systems in place to ensure any practical examination work carried out finds its way securely to its proper destination.

The matter having been considered fully, it is not considered to be one contemplated by Standing Order 30. Leave, therefore, cannot be granted to move the motion.

I submitted a Private Notice Question with regard to a constituent of mine who had suffered at the Point Depot——

It is not in order to raise that matter now.

It is a matter of national concern, a Leas-Cheann Comhairle.

I will advise the Deputy how he may proceed. He has been advised by the Ceann Comhairle's office that it is very willing to assist him further. He may not raise the matter now. If he has a question to raise on legislation, we shall come to that immediately after the Taoiseach has announced the Order of Business.
