Last March, the Minister for Social Welfare secured the approval of the Government for his proposals in relation to the recommendations of the task force on security for the elderly.
One of these recommendations provides that resources be made available to voluntary groups to support the installation of security equipment and alarm monitoring devices in the homes of elderly people who are identified as at risk and that this be done through a scheme operated on the lines of the scheme of grants for voluntary and community groups operated by the Department of Social Welfare.
In the circumstances, I would suggest that the group concerned bring their submission to the attention of the Department of Social Welfare.
