217 Mr. Moynihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the action, if any, he proposes to take to facilitate farmers in the sale of their stock by ensuring the prompt return of their cattle identity bands following TB and brucellosis tests. [9423/96]

218 Mr. Moynihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if his attention has been drawn to the inconvenience and financial loss being experienced by farmers, particularly in the area of cattle sales, due to the industrial dispute by members of CPSU; and the action, if any, he proposes to take to bring about an immediate resolution of this problem. It is proposed to take Questions Nos. 217 and 218 together.

I am very conscious of and regret the hardship caused to the farming community by the programme of industrial action taken by the Civil and Public Service Union.

Intensive discussions are ongoing in an effort to resolve the situation and the union has been made aware of the difficulties which the dispute is causing.

Owing to industrial action by members of the Civil and Public Services Union, cattle identity cards and blood test results in respect of clear herds, are currently not being issued.

221 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will have arrangements made to have payment a farm buildings grant made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [9427/96]

Approval issued to the applicant on 28 November 1995 under the scheme of investment aid for the control of farm pollution, on the understanding that payment would be made in 1997, subject to the work being completed to the Department's specification.

Payment will issue in 1997.
