Vol. 465 No. 3

Written Answers. - Income Tax Liabilities.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

90 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Finance if he will have arrangements made to review the income tax liabilities of a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath in view of the fact that this person is unemployed and his sole income at the moment is social welfare payments. [9485/96]

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer commenced a period of employment on 13 January 1995 and is to their knowledge currently in that employment. I have been further advised that there is an amount of tax due by the taxpayer since the tax year 1992-93 when he was self-employed. If the taxpayer has any difficulties in discharging the amount due, he should contact his inspector of taxes or the Office of the Collector-General to agree an appropriate instalment arrangement.
